INTRODUCTION
In 1982 Kilsby Parish Council produced a publication with this title with the purpose of bringing together information for residents about the range of activities and services available in Kilsby or nearby. The aim was to list the various organisations and to give names and contact numbers. It was always recognised that such a directory soon becomes outdated as circumstances and personnel change and the last paragraph of the booklet stated: ‘The Key will not be published again for a year or so but information will be updated in the Kilsby Chronicle’, reincarnated in 1998 as the Kilsby Kronickle.
Well, here we are over twenty-five years later attempting to repeat the exercise. Once again the Parish Council has agreed to provide the funding and there will be a copy of the booklet for each household in the Parish. The intention will still be to update information through the Kilsby Kronickle but we now also have the benefit of the village website at www.kilsbyvillage.co.uk However, we shall rely heavily on the input of residents to ensure that the directory remains current and relevant. Please do use these contact points to inform about changes you may know about.
We hope that this will prove to be a helpful guide not only for newcomers to Kilsby but also for longstanding residents and that it may encourage greater participation in all that goes on in our vibrant community.

KILSBY TODAY
Kilsby’s history stretches back for over a thousand years and many clues to its ancient past are still to be found in its buildings and byways. The village that we know today has some 520 households and a population of approaching 1400 people. It has a Parish Church - St. Faith’s - and a United Reformed Church, a Primary School, a Post Office and General Stores and a Village Hall, as well as a hotel and a public house. Geographically, Kilsby is within Northamptonshire (although its postal address is Rugby Warwickshire) so administrative responsibility rests with Daventry District Council and Northamptonshire County Council. Local matters are dealt with by the Parish Council.
All age groups are represented within the village but there is now a predominance of retired and elderly people. There is a sheltered housing complex at Stephenson Court and a residential home for the elderly, Kilsby House.
In recent years every attempt has been made to involve all residents in determining the future direction of Kilsby by identifying their needs and aspirations through the means of surveys and public consultation exercises. In 2007 a Parish Plan was produced and this is now being used to underpin joint action to secure and preserve a good quality of life for everyone in our community.
